DEPARTMENT OF RAS SHASTRA & BHAISHJYA KALPNA (PHARMACY)
Department of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana is most important branch of Ayurveda which deals with the preparation of medicines by using Kashtaoushadhi (Herbal), Rasoushadhi (Mineral) and Kashta-Rasoushadhi (Herbo-Mineral).
Department deals with ayurvedic pharmaceutics and ayurvedic pharmacology, subject explains detail about manufacturing procedures of ayurvedic medicines, their mode of actions and therapeutic uses. This branch is Backbone of Ayurvedic medical science, because it develops the thought process in the minds of students regarding a drug activity and rational selection of the raw drugs as well Ayurvedic medicines in clinical practice.
Academic Activities
During the Academic year, Department imparted theoretical as well as practical teaching, training to UG Students in the Subject of Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana. Practical studies of pharmaceutical procedures of different Ayurvedic medicaments such as Vati, Churna, Kalka, Swarasa, Kashaya, Asava, Aristha, Avaleha, Arka, Loha, Mandoor, Bhasma, Pishti, Kuppipakva rasa, parpati, pottali, Masi Kalpana, Guggulu, Lavana Kshar, Sneha Kalpanayan, Kanji, Shodhana and Marana etc. has been conducted in the Departmental Laboratory and Teaching Pharmacy. Well maintained museum containing all the specimens of metals, minerals, herbal drugs etc. for the benefit of students. Pharmacy visits are organized for students during the academic year to know about the pharmacy and industrial management regarding manufacturing. Department is also attached with the teaching pharmacy, where ayurvedic products are prepared regularly.
